Biography Post

On March 6, 1475, in Renaissance Italy, one of the most legendary artists of all time was born. His name was Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, but he is most known simply as Michelangelo. Born into a family that had once been nobility, Michelangelo’s mother died when he was six-years-old.
As such, his father sent him to live with a nanny. Her husband was a stoneworker, so they lived near to a quarry of marble. There, Michelangelo came to appreciate marble for its beauty—an appreciation that would foreshadow some of his most masterful works.
